Closing the year with Intention

While we get ready for the end of 2025, and ready for 2026, I want to be intentional and purposeful with my time. I don’t know about you but the holidays are usually fun and exciting but filled with anxiety and making sure we got everything done.

This year, I want to worry less about what we’re doing and just being more present with my family. Taking my camera, and capturing the seemingly mundane moments, not on my phone but on a camera. (and this one falls more into next year than this year, but I want to print my photos and put them in an album.

But I’ve also go a few ways I want to invest in the 8 forms of capital over the next few weeks, which if everything goes the way the last two days go, December maybe be a mess.

So I'll start with the obvious- Cultural Capital and Social Capital, I want to spend time with family, we’re going to visit my grandparents for the holidays, and two of my nieces are coming to stay a week with us. We’re going to do old traditions like Grinch Night, and maybe try some new things too, a few new recipes, we’re reading A Christmas Carol together while my nieces are in town. And we’re going to see friends act in our local production of a Christmas Carol. Also attending a Christmas event at a local Historical Site.

Experimental Capital- Focusing on the moment, and not worrying about things this Christmas, being more intentional. Documenting the memories and thoughts in a journal. Leaving my phone behind more often and breaking the habit of doomscrolling.

Living Capital- Figure out why I have had a headache for two weeks, go back to the dojo since I have taken an accidentally took a break.

Material Capital- clean out somethings, register my bronco, and repair my dad’s pickup he is letting me drive.

Financial Capital- I really need to audit my photography business, and get ready for 2026, work on marketing, and on my budget for my business and personal. I also plan on working on this blog quite a bit, so when busy season picks backup for Photography, I can still have content on here. And I’m working on another business idea, and figure out how to pitch it to a few acquaintances.

Spiritual Capital- I will be finishing up the first half/ book of our study of Psalms. I would really like to get more reading in my bible, be a bit more intentional with my prayer journal, finish Luke in our bible study using Balancing the Sword.
