What is the Master of None Journal?

First I should probably introduce myself. I’m Bretton, my littlest friends call me Button. What your name?

I’m the creator behind the Master of None Journal, this is a place for me to collect, document and share my ideas, experiments, thoughts, lessons I've learned.

Around here we like to play in the dirt, and write about what we learned, in almost every aspect of our lives. I’d love for you to join in while we play in the dirt, learn new things, and record it all in the process.

Why should you listen to me?

I mean you probably shouldn’t but I think we’ve got something to learn from everyone no matter how old you are. I’m a 20 something year old single woman, who was homeschooled for most of her life, I grew up in a Biblical Christian Conservative household. I’ve had my fair share of struggles, with learning disabilities, doubts in my faith, and a lot of questions. But my upbringing shaped my perspective and my worldview, now this can change as I experience new things, or learn more, but I will say my foundation is pretty well build and the parts that are a little rough or cracked, I’m working on. All that being said, I want you to stay, pull up a chair, grab your favorite book and drink, you pen and notebook and let’s learn together.

You might even wonder why I share about some of the things I write about, well the entire of idea of this blog is that we’re always learning. So you get to decide how you learn and what you learn (sometimes) you can learn like a library you can learn a little (or a lot) about a variety of things or you learn like a deep well where you study one particular topic or field and dive really deep into the knowledge.

Well I’ve always been a little bit more library, than diving into one particular topic. If I had to describe it I would say my learning is usually like a large oak tree, where I branch out into new things but dive deep into the roots of other topics, but usually that are all connected.

What is the difference between The Library, The Kitchen and the Journal?

Well the journal is probably more like a common place book, we’ll talk about a little bit of everything, from faith to finances, hiking, camping, gardening, liberty and freedom, training my dogs, theology, history, hunting, culture, and building a community.

The library is about books, I really like to read after struggling with dyslexic and working through tutoring for a few years once I learned to read, I have been a reader ever since, so I decided I should have a dedicated place to talk about books.

Now last but not least the kitchen, everyones favorite room in the house, most of my favorite memories are in the kitchen with my mom and grandma cooking and baking, I want to learn about different ways to cook from scratch, preserve food and build my recipe book full of recipes to feed my family one day.

What does any of this have to do with you?

While I’ll be sharing my own experiences, I hope I encourage you to try new things, and expand your unique skill sets, and maybe just maybe I can encourage you that your not alone in the world, when you want to learn a lot of different skills, are more interested in learning how to run a homestead than manage a tech group, more interested in investing in various types of wealth to build a legacy for your grandparents, parents, and children.

In full transparency the ultimate goal while I build this blog, my photography business, and education project is to build a life that honors God, and that will build a life that will help support my future family. I want to invest in my skills to run a homestead, a small business, my home and homeschool.

So you will see affiliate links, and such on this blog, don’t feel like you have to use them, they are greatly appreciated but not expected, as I invest in my future, and hopefully by sharing what I learn I can help you invest in yours too!
